The Girls' Brigade is an international organisation, operating world-wide in numerous Christian Churches of different denominations.  The Girls' Brigade is an achievement-based uniformed organisation, operating within universal principles, with the same aim and motto all over the world.
GB membership is open to all girls from the age of 6 - 21 years, within four units (Cadets, Juniors, Seniors and Pioneers).

The Motto

"Seek, Serve and Follow Christ."

The Aim

"To help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self-control, reverence, and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life."

The Crest

The Crest is the international symbol of The Girls' Brigade.
Climatic conditions and cultural considerations dictate specific uniform design and requirements from country to country, but the Crest appears somewhere on every girls' and leaders' uniform. The Crest in Australia is exactly the same Crest in Africa.  Using the same, universal, symbol gives our Companies world-wide unity and international recognition; allowing Brigade members to "feel at home" in any Company around the world!

In the centre a CROSS, a symbol of Christ and His Church.
Below it a LAMP, that our light may shine out upon the World.
Above it a CROWN, that we may own Christ as our King.
And behind it all a TORCH, a flame of Christ's living spirit and our devotion to Him.

  1. The Holy Scriptures, being the Word of God, contain all things necessary to salvation and are accepted as the final authority.
  2. The Trinity - the Unity and Co-equality of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
    1. We believe in God the Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
    2. We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.  We believe in Jesus crucified, dead, buried, risen and ascended, Who shall come to judge the living and the dead.
    3. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of eternal life.
